General Manager of Microsoft Sales, Marketing & Services Group Readiness

Summary

Christopher Pirie is the general manager of Microsoft’s Worldwide Readiness organization, delivering skills and knowledge to 55,000 employees worldwide, and building key capabilities in the transformation of Microsoft to a cloud and mobile-first world.

Through Chris’ leadership, the Worldwide Readiness team delivers 209,000 days of conference, classroom, and innovative virtual training, and manages over 740,000 hours of online learning every year for Microsoft consultants, sales, and marketing professionals. Programs are focused on landing product and service, industry, and compete knowledge as well as professional skills.

Chris joined Microsoft in September 2004, and as the general manager for Microsoft Learning, he led the worldwide marketing and sales team to drive reach, revenue and increased customer satisfaction across all markets. The team’s focus was helping customers, partners and the field realize their potential by promoting Microsoft Learning’s comprehensive catalogue of certifications, trainings, learning references and resources.

Chris served on the board of directors of the Association for Talent Development (ATD), the world's largest professional association dedicated to the training and development field, from 2009 and was board chair in 2012. During his tenure, he focused on the international expansion of ATD and delivered keynotes at the ATD conferences in Denver, Singapore, Shanghai and Beijing.

Chris joined the Humentum board after serving as the board chair of LINGOs.org. LINGOs, a non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on bringing world class workplace learning to international and local NGO employees, joined with InsideNGO and Mango to form Humentum in July 2017.

Chris began his professional career in his native England as a trainer and technical writer. He moved to the United States in 1991 and joined his previous employer Oracle Corporation in 1994. Chris has spent the bulk of his career in software training and adult education, including content development, product and services marketing, business development and sales management roles.

Chris has a degree in literature and philosophy from the University of Essex in England, and will take any opportunity to travel and sail with his English wife and two American boys.
