Denise Wales has focused on program design, delivery, and evaluation with an emphasis on governance and stability programming in countries experiencing conflict over the last 20 years. She is skilled at aligning technical and operational requirements to deliver high-quality results under restricted-funded awards, particularly those funded by USAID. Denise has worked at both the headquarters and field levels for non-profit and for-profit implementers. She has managed programs in Asia, Africa, and Southeastern Europe and has served long-term assignments in Indonesia, Afghanistan, and Kosovo. In the field, she has led a grant-making program, served in technical roles, and developed and managed programs. At the headquarters level, she has overseen USAID-funded project portfolios of up to $72 million, and developed successful proposals for USAID and DFID funding. Denise served as a US Peace Corps Volunteer English teacher in the Slovak Republic and holds a Master’s degree in Public Management from the University of Maryland.
