Great things in store at the LINGOs Global Learning Lab!

By Ross Coxon

Director of the Learning Collaborative LINGOs

The Global Learning Lab at InsideNGO's upcoming annual conference is a space dedicated to engaging with LINGOs members and other conference-goers. It is a separate space for learning, exchanging ideas, and getting onsite help for specific challenges. It’s where the great ideas of the conference come to life for your organization, and the LINGOs team is ready to help make that happen.

This year we’ll be offering a program of high-energy table talks as well as the opportunity to discuss all things learning and capacity-building. We’ll be covering how to reach different learning audiences, how to inject life into your training, and how to build internal partnerships. We’ve got some great discussions on using media and communications more effectively, from utilizing the power of podcasts to gamifying humanitarian learning. We’ll also be covering how to select the best learning tools and make the most of existing ones.

On Thursday, July 20, at 4:15 p.m., Lisa Giacumo from Boise State University will be sharing her thoughts on how learning professionals can support organizations to drive strategy forward, partner with the C-level, and become an indispensable asset to any organization.

Also on Thursday, Angharad Evans from RedR will be sharing a draft Learning Competency Assessment Standard, co-created by the humanitarian community, and asking for your feedback. Don’t miss the chance to give your input for this new standard before the pilot phase is rolled out next year!

On Friday at 3:15 p.m., Mehdi Tounsi of Speexx will be discussing why good communication skills are increasingly important for managers, given the changes in workforce demographic and management structures. He’ll be offering practical steps you can take to improve communication in your organization, tailored specifically to an NGO context to ensure they work for you.

See the Global Learning Lab program for full details of these and the other great table sessions we’ve got lined up this year. There’s something for everyone, so be sure to plan your conference schedule to make the most out of the Global Learning Lab presented by LINGOs at the InsideNGO Annual Conference!

The Global Learning Lab is informal, interactive, and full of innovative ideas, so don’t hesitate to pay us a visit on the 3rd floor, anytime from 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 21. Whatever learning challenges you face, there will be learning professionals who share your passion and are ready to offer support and guidance.

The Global Learning Lab is on the 3rd floor, outside Ballroom B. Space is limited at each table so come early. It’s where great things happen!
